Grammy award-winning singer, Ashanti, has shared exciting news with her fans, confirming that she is pregnant with her first child and engaged to American rapper, Nelly.
In a video posted on her Instagram account on Wednesday, April 17, the 43-year-old R&B singer revealed her pregnancy while getting ready for a performance. When asked how much time she needed, Ashanti jokingly replied, “Uh, I’m gonna need about nine months,” leaving her mother, Tina Douglas, visibly surprised.
Ashanti also confirmed the news in an interview with Essence, expressing her joy and gratitude for the blessings in her life. She shared, “This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope, and anticipation. Motherhood is something that I have looked forward to, and sharing this with my family, fiancé, and loyal fans, who have been so supportive of my career, is an amazing experience.”
