Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and the Nigerian Army have struck hard against terrorist groups, resulting in the elimination of top leaders and the disruption of their activities in Borno and Zamfara States.
According to a statement released by Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information of NAF, the Air Component of “Operation Hadarin Kai” (OPHK) carried out airstrikes on April 13, 2024, targeting the hideouts of ISWAP terrorists within Kolleram village, situated along the shores of Lake Chad. The precision airstrike led to the elimination of over 30 terrorists, including senior commanders such as Ali Dawud, Bakura Fallujah, and Mallam Ari. Additionally, the strike destroyed terrorists’ vehicles, motorcycles, and logistical assets, severely crippling their operational capabilities.
Meanwhile, in Zamfara State, troops of the Nigerian Army conducted clearance operations in Maru local government area. Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, reported that acting on credible intelligence, the troops dismantled a suspected terrorists’ operational base. In a fierce gun battle, the troops neutralized 12 terrorists and captured 10 operational motorcycles.
