Nollywood actor Seun Jimoh has criticized the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), alleging that it is unfairly targeting celebrities in its crackdown on Naira abuse. Jimoh’s comments come in response to reports of the EFCC’s intention to arraign popular socialite Pascal Okechukwu, also known as Cubana Chief Priest, for Naira abuse, following the recent imprisonment of crossdresser Bobrisky on similar charges.
Jimoh argued that singling out celebrities for a crime that a significant portion of Nigerians engage in, as evidenced by videos widely available online, is unjust. He expressed concerns about the mental health implications of this “scapegoat approach” to cultural reform, emphasizing that celebrities are also citizens deserving fair treatment under the law.
