Kogi State government has initiated a Steering Committee for the Open Government Partnership, aiming to enhance citizen involvement in governance. The State Steering Committee, inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Mrs. Folashade Arike Ayoade, aims to uphold transparency and accountability, principles observed during the previous administration of Yahaya Bello.
The Open Government Partnership, a multilateral initiative, seeks commitments from governments to promote transparency, empower citizens, combat corruption, and leverage technology for better governance. This initiative is expected to elevate Kogi State’s global standing in transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement.
The inclusion of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) ensures robust citizen participation and accountability. Commissioner for Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning, Asiwaju Ashiru Idris, alongside KOGONET State Chairman, Muriana Ozovehe, will co-chair the State Steering Committee, fostering growth and prosperity in Kogi State.
