The Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, a prominent Fulani socio-cultural organization in Nigeria, has fervently called for the immediate release of its president, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello Bodejo, currently held in custody by Nigeria’s Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA).

In a statement released on Tuesday in Abuja, Engineer Saleh Alhassan, the group’s Secretary, voiced deep concern over Bodejo’s detention, emphasizing its adverse effects on the journey towards fostering harmony, understanding, and reconciliation among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups. Alhassan highlighted the invaluable contributions and wisdom Bodejo could offer to constructive dialogues and the resolution of existing tensions in the country, underscoring the urgency of his release.

“His release is not merely a matter of justice; it signifies a crucial stride towards cultivating an atmosphere of reconciliation, tolerance, and mutual respect among all communities,” explained Alhassan.

The detention of Bodejo traces back to his arrest on January 23 at the Miyetti Allah office in Karu LGA of Nasarawa State, in connection with the unveiling of a vigilante group in the state. Since then, he has been arraigned before a Federal High Court in Abuja on a three-count charge related to terrorism.
