Super Eagles winger, Nathan Tella, has shared his joy at clinching the Bundesliga title with Bayer Leverkusen this season. Tella played a pivotal role in Leverkusen’s commanding 5-0 victory over Werder Bremen, securing the club’s first-ever Bundesliga title. In a conversation with ESPN, Tella conveyed his happiness for the fans, players, staff, and everyone involved with the club, hailing the achievement as one of the finest moments in Leverkusen’s history.
“Feeling happy and tired, but ultimately really happy for all fans, players, staff and everyone involved in the club,” Tella expressed.
Reflecting on his journey from Southampton to Leverkusen for a reported €23.3m, Tella underscored the significance of winning a trophy after departing the Sky Bet Championship club. “I think it is probably one of, if not the best day in the history of the club. I’m happy we can all be a part of it. Champions have a nice right to it,” he added.
Tella emphasized the special nature of being part of Leverkusen’s success, highlighting the unpredictability of winning trophies. “Yeah, it’s obviously very special. I’ve always said trophies aren’t guaranteed,” he remarked. “The fact that I’ve had an opportunity to come to this club in my first season with an incredibly talented group of players, unbelievable coaching staff, and win something first time of asking is special. It’s an important moment for the history of the club.”
