Nigerian singer Kelechi Austin Miles, popularly known as Tekno, has refuted claims suggesting that he received royalties totaling N1 billion from his collaboration with fellow artist Kizz Daniel on the song ‘Buga’.

The controversy arose from a report by Budget TV, stating that Tekno had disclosed to them that Kizz Daniel shares 50 percent of the revenues generated by ‘Buga’ with him each month. According to the blog, Tekno allegedly mentioned receiving nearly a billion Naira from Kizz Daniel as royalties for the song.

The blog post quoted Tekno as saying, “I got on Kizz Daniel’s Buga with no sort of legal agreement. I wasn’t expecting anything from him. Do y’all know Kizz Daniel sends me 50% of every revenue he generates from that song?” The post continued, claiming that Tekno had received a substantial sum after Kizz Daniel’s ‘Buga’ tour, and continues to receive monthly payments from the song’s streaming revenues.

In response, Tekno took to his X handle to denounce the interview as “fake,” stating emphatically, “Him money no reach.” He also issued a strong rebuke to whoever was responsible for the false claims, writing, “Anybody wey put out that fake interview, thunder fire your mama. #Talkingshit.”
