The eastern Ukrainian city of Siversk has become the latest casualty of Russian shelling, resulting in the loss of four lives. According to Vadym Filashkin, the regional military governor of Donetsk, the victims were men ranging in age from 36 to 86.
Filashkin issued a somber call for the remaining residents of Siversk to evacuate the city, which lies just 10 kilometers west of the frontline. Prior to the conflict, Siversk boasted a population of over 10,000 inhabitants.
The ongoing violence underscores the precarious situation faced by communities in eastern Ukraine, where Russian forces continue to assert control despite international condemnation. Russia’s claim of territorial sovereignty over the Donetsk region has only exacerbated tensions, leaving civilian populations caught in the crossfire of geopolitical strife.
