The Operatives of Lagos Rapid Response Squad, (RRS), a detachment of the Lagos State Police Command, have arrested a 27-year-old dispatch rider for selling three iPhones worth N1.7 million entrusted to him for delivery.
It stated that suspect, Matthew Odah, popularly known as Mr Lemon, was arrested at Apha Beach, Lagos, after eight months on the run.
He was arrested along with the two buyers while one of the iPhones was recovered.
The Command disclosed this in a statement posted on its X handle on Sunday.
The statement says that Odah had on August 23, 2023, while working as a despatch rider collected one iPhone 14 ProMax (128 GB) and two iPhone 11 (128 and 68 GB) meant for delivery to a customer in Lekki, Lagos.
He was alleged to have bolted and switched off his phone on collecting the consignment.
Furthermore, police said a sustained discreet investigation into the matter led to his arrest at Lemon Bus Stop, Alpha Beach, Lagos, adding that the suspect has confessed to having sold the three iPhones in Obalende for N300,000.
According to Police that the suspects are to be arraigned at the conclusion of investigations.
