Nigerian singer Augustine Obiabo Amedu, famously known as Blackface, has stirred up a controversy by alleging that his fellow artist, Shallipopi, stole his song. Blackface claims that Shallipopi sampled his track ‘Enemy Plan’ in Shallipopi’s recent album ‘Shakepopi’ without obtaining permission.
In a video shared on his Instagram page, Blackface questions whether Nigerian artists can create without imitating his sound or melody. He wrote in pidgin, “Una mean say if them no copy my sound or my melody them no go get song to sing? Ok I don make remix for una so make una better abandon this una project.”
Shallipopi has not responded to the accusation yet.
