Adanma Luke, the producer of the movie in which the late actor Junior Pope Odonwodo was scheduled to appear, has voluntarily surrendered to the police following the tragic boat mishap in Asaba, Delta state.

Junior Pope passed away on Wednesday after falling into the River Niger while on his way to a movie location with other actors and crew members.

Tochukwu Ikenga, the Anambra police spokesperson, clarified that Luke was not arrested but willingly presented herself to the law enforcement agency. He also mentioned that the two boat drivers involved in the incident are currently in police custody as part of the ongoing investigation into Pope’s death.

“She was not arrested; she came by herself, and her statement was obtained. We also have in custody the two boat drivers, and interrogation is still ongoing,” Ikenga stated. He further informed that the search for the remaining three bodies had resumed.

In response to the tragedy, the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) took action by suspending all movies involving riverine locations and warning filmmakers against collaborating with Luke until further notice.

Meanwhile, survivor Tochukwu Okafor, also known as TC Virus, shared his account of escaping the mishap that claimed the life of  Jnr Pope and the other victims.
