A Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled April 19th for the hearing of a suit filed by the impeached Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shaibu, against the State House of Assembly and other parties involved.

The matter, presented before Justice Inyang Ekwo, was fixed for hearing after a legal team, including Alex Ejesieme, SAN, appeared to request a date for the case.

Although the suit, identified as FHC/ABJ/CS/405/24, was not initially listed on the cause list, the defense lawyers attended the court session.

Prior to adjournment, one of the lawyers informed Justice Ekwo that the matter was slated for Thursday but couldn’t proceed due to a public holiday.

Acknowledging the situation, Justice Ekwo directed the lawyers to coordinate with the court registrar for the next adjourned date, officially setting April 19th for the hearing.

Shaibu was removed by the Edo State Assembly last week, prompting him to challenge the decision in court, alleging its illegality.
