Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has urged Local Government Areas (LGAs) and communities in the state to embrace the state’s new agenda on agriculture to achieve food sufficiency.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Isuikwuato Agriculture Revolution Program (ISAREP) and the flag-off of the 2024 Isuikwuato Planting Season, Otti emphasized the importance of agriculture as a business and its role in the state’s transformation agenda.

Represented by his Special Adviser on Agriculture, Cliff Agbaeze, Otti commended the Isuikwuato Consultative Forum (ICF) for initiating the program and expressed his full support for their efforts to diversify the local economy through agriculture.

He emphasized the significance of the program amidst the current national food crisis, stating that it presents an opportunity for significant transformation in agricultural practices in Isuikwuato, Abia State, and Nigeria as a whole.

Otti stressed the belief in the potential of Abia’s people and highlighted the need to unlock their full agricultural potential to achieve food self-sufficiency, asserting that Abia State has the capacity to feed Nigeria if its agricultural potential is fully harnessed.
