The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has taken disciplinary action against 35 corps members (2023 Batch A, Stream II) in Bayelsa for violating NYSC regulations. Among these, 21 individuals faced an extension of their service year, while 14 were required to repeat their service.
Obiageli Okpalifo, the NYSC coordinator in Bayelsa, made this announcement in Yenagoa on Sunday, noting that 1,075 corps members successfully completed their service and received their certificates of national service. Ms. Okpalifo extended her congratulations to these individuals for their significant contributions to the state.
She also expressed appreciation to employers and traditional leaders for providing a supportive environment for corps members during their service.
In recognition of outstanding performance, corps members who excelled during their service year were presented with certificates of commendation. Ms. Okpalifo praised those who participated in the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Training Programmes, emphasizing their dedication to self-reliance and potential to become future employers.
Acknowledging the crucial role played by NYSC staff in mentoring and supervising corps members throughout their assignments, Ms. Okpalifo emphasized their dedication, which contributed to the overall success of the program.
