The Federal High Court in Lagos has ruled against controversial figure Bobrisky, convicting him of abusing the Naira. Bobrisky faced charges brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), totaling four counts related to Naira abuse.

Following a review of the case’s details, Justice Abimbola Awogboro delivered the conviction.

Despite Bobrisky’s plea of ignorance regarding the law on Naira abuse, he admitted guilt to the initial four counts presented.

Claiming to be a social media influencer with millions of followers, Bobrisky expressed remorse and requested a chance to educate his audience on the matter.

However, the judge emphasized that ignorance of the law does not excuse the offense.

In response, Bobrisky proposed using his platform to educate followers about the implications of spraying money, promising not to repeat the offense.

The conviction leaves Bobrisky facing potential penalties, including six months’ imprisonment, a fine of N50,000, or both, according to Section 21 (1) of the CBN Act 2007. This legislation outlines the consequences for tampering with currency issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
