AEDC Working to Refund Erroneous Charges to Band A Customers

The Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has acknowledged the erroneous charges experienced by some Band A customers following the implementation of the new electricity tariff of N225 per Kilowatt Hour (kWh). This issue arose due to a system glitch caused by the reclassification of certain Band A customers to Band B, as they were not receiving the required 20 hours of electricity supply daily.

In response to this, AEDC has assured affected customers that efforts are underway to identify and refund all excess charges incurred. The management of the power distribution company made this known through a public notice posted on its official channels.

The glitch occurred after the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) approved an upward review of the tariff payable by Band A customers from N68/kWh to N225/kWh. As part of the review process, NERC downgraded some customers from ‘Band A feeder’ to Band B due to insufficient daily electricity supply.

Once the system glitch is resolved, affected Band A customers will be able to recharge their meters at the new tariff rate of N225/kWh, ensuring they receive a minimum supply of 20 hours of electricity daily.

AEDC reiterated its commitment to rectifying the situation promptly and ensuring that customers are refunded for any overcharged amounts.
