The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has advised property developers to thoroughly investigate the land they intend to purchase before acquisition. This call is coming on the hills of a recent demolition exercise in Gosa District to reclaim over 100 hectares of land that had been illegally fenced off by encroachers.
The Director of the Department of Development Control, Mukhtar Galadima, stressed the importance of collaboration with anti-corruption agencies like EFCC, ICPC, and the Nigerian police to apprehend those involved in illegal land grabbing activities, underscoring the FCTA’s is commitment to preventing unsuspecting citizens from buying properties obtained through deceitful means.
Galadima, urged prospective buyers to verify land allocations with government agencies such as the Department of Lands Administration, Development Control, and Urban and Regional Planning to ensure transparency, while expressing renewed commitment to monitor the environment regularly in Gosa District, as outlined by the Urban and Regional Planning department.
Dr. Peter Olumuji, Secretary of Command and Control at FCTA, condemned the criminal activities of land grabbers, including falsifying documents and confronting authorities violently.
He assured that the eight perpetrators who were arrested during the recent operation will face legal consequences.
