The Ilorin Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended Akogun Rasheed Usman, an alleged fraudster who has been impersonating an EFCC officer. Usman deceived victims by claiming he could secure favorable outcomes for their cases with the commission.

The scammer’s activities came to light after the Command received intelligence about his fraudulent schemes. Usman, who purported to be an EFCC officer, swindled Mrs. Khadizah Abdullahi out of N.5 million. Abdullahi, the parent of two individuals held by the EFCC for internet fraud, fell victim to Usman’s deceit.

Following credible intelligence, authorities arrested Usman, who claimed to work in the Library Department of Kwara State College of Education, Oro. He was apprehended on Thursday, March 27, 2024, at the General Hospital in Taiwo-Oke area, Ilorin.

Mrs. Abdullahi expressed distress when Usman failed to fulfill his promise of securing bail for her detained sons.
