EFCC Arrests Bobrisky for Alleged Naira Misuse

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed the arrest of Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, for alleged currency mutilation and abuse of the Naira. This revelation came after reports surfaced of Bobrisky’s detention at his Lagos home on Wednesday, April 3, 2024.

In a statement to LIB, the EFCC spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, disclosed, “Yes, we arrested Bobrisky. He is in our custody, and we will charge him to court soon.” Oyewale clarified that Bobrisky was apprehended over accusations of currency mutilation and Naira abuse.

Bobrisky’s detention is in connection to alleged offenses related to the handling of Nigerian currency, specifically the misuse and defacement of Naira notes. According to Oyewale, Bobrisky is currently held at the EFCC facility in Lagos state.

Speaking further, Oyewale emphasized that legal proceedings against Bobrisky will commence promptly. The EFCC aims to address the allegations swiftly and ensure adherence to Nigerian laws governing currency handling and abuse.

The arrest of Bobrisky, a prominent socialite and internet personality known for his extravagant lifestyle and social media presence, has sparked widespread interest and speculation. As the EFCC prepares to charge him in court, the case is expected to garner significant attention from the public and media alike.
