The Nigerian Army’s 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala, Abeokuta, has handed over a substance suspected to be hemp weighing 223kg to the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

According to Mohammed Goni, spokesman for the army in Abeokuta, the troops of the brigade intercepted a Mazda bus marked NRK 622 SB last Friday, carrying the 441 pawpaw-sized substance at Mologbede village in Odeda LGA.

Brigade commander, Mohammed Aminu, commended the troops for their efforts and urged them to remain vigilant, emphasizing the brigade’s continuous collaboration with other security agencies to combat crime in the state.

NDLEA commander in Ogun, Jane Odili, lauded the synergy between the military and other security agencies, noting their support had led to significant success for the agency. She mentioned that it was not the first time such a large quantity of hemp was intercepted by the military and handed over to the agency.
