Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has allocated N1 billion for the payment of gratuities to pensioners in the state, reaffirming his commitment to honoring those who have served diligently.
In addition to the initial N1 billion, Governor Kefas has approved a monthly allocation of N200 million to gradually clear the backlog of gratuities, acknowledging the unfairness of withholding entitlements from hardworking retirees.
Mrs. Rose Garba Ajiya, the Permanent Secretary of Pensions, expressed gratitude for the governor’s gesture, stating that it would bring an end to years of anguish and frustration among elderly pensioners.
Assuring efficient disbursement, Mrs. Ajiya affirmed that her team is fully prepared to commence payments, with all records meticulously maintained for accuracy.
Pensioners, who recounted the last significant assistance received in 2011, appealed to the governor to oversee the payment process personally, ensuring transparency and accountability.
