Tigran Gambaryan, detained Binance CEO, files a lawsuit against the EFCC and NSA, alleging infringement of fundamental rights. Represented by attorney Olujoke Aliyu, Gambaryan seeks relief from Justice Inyang Ekwo, with a similar action by Nadeem Anjarwalla, Binance’s Africa regional manager.

The initial application, dated March 18, outlines five reliefs requested by Gambaryan. Anjarwalla, on March 22, also pursued a rights enforcement lawsuit before Justice Ekwo. Both cases, with filing numbers FHC/ABJ/CS/356/24 and FHC/ABJ/CS/355/24, name the ONSA and EFCC as respondents, aiming for release from custody.

Gambaryan, a US citizen overseeing Binance’s financial crime compliance, asserts that his arrest and passport seizure violate Sections 35(1) and (4) of the Nigerian Constitution, constituting a breach of his constitutionally protected fundamental right to personal liberty. He seeks an order for immediate release and the return of his passport for foreign travel.
