An 18-year-old resident of Magama-Gumau in Toro LGA of Bauchi State, named Usman Ibrahim, allegedly stabbed his friend, Khalid Ibrahim, 25, to death on Tuesday following a dispute between them.
According to reports, a heated argument erupted among a group of young men, including the deceased, which escalated into a physical altercation between Usman and Khalid.
Confirming the incident on Wednesday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Bauchi State Command, Ahmed Muhammed Wakil Usman, stated that the suspect used a sharp knife to stab Khalid in the chest, resulting in his demise.
“On Tuesday, March 26th, 2024, around 8:00 p.m., the Command received a report of culpable homicide from Gumau outstation involving two individuals, Khalid Ibrahim, 25 years old, and Usman Ibrahim, 18 years old, both from Magama-Gumau town in Toro LGA of Bauchi State,” the PPRO said.
He further explained, “The two engaged in a fight, during which Usman Ibrahim used a sharp knife against Khalid Ibrahim, causing a serious injury to his body. Upon receiving the report, the Command, under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Musa Mohammed, directed the DPO, Toro Division, to immediately move to the scene.”
“The victim was swiftly evacuated and rushed to the General Hospital, Toro, for medical attention. However, upon arrival at the hospital, he was pronounced dead by a medical doctor. His body was subsequently released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.”
“The CP, Auwal Musa Mohammed, has instructed the DPO, Toro Division, to initiate impartial investigations to uncover the circumstances that led to the incident. The findings of the investigation will be made public,” the PPRO concluded.
