Toyota Nigeria Limited has celebrated the creativity of Nigerian youth by honoring nine school children who emerged as winners of the 2024 edition of the annual Toyota Dream Car Art Contest. The competition aims to foster creativity and innovation among young minds.
Kunle Ade-Ojo, the Managing Director of Toyota Nigeria, announced that the nine winning drawings, created by school children from various parts of Nigeria, were sent to Japan to compete with entries from around the world.
During a grand ceremony held in Lagos, the winners were presented with laptops, corporate gifts, and certificates, much to the delight of their parents, art teachers, and well-wishers.
Among the winners, four are pupils of Corona School, Lagos, two attend Loyola Jesuit College in Abuja, two are from Avi-Cenna International School, and one hails from Vivian-Fowler Memorial College for Girls, Lagos. Notably, all the winners this year are female contestants.
The Toyota Dream Car Art Contest, organized by Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) Japan, challenges school children globally to depict their dream cars with an inspirational idea.
Last year, Nigeria’s Oluwademilade Odumuboni from Corona School Gbagada, Lagos, won the global prize with his drawing titled “Waste Converter,” which focused on aiding food production and environmental cleanliness in African communities.
During the recent ceremony, all nine winners had the opportunity to present their drawings and explain the concepts behind them before receiving their prizes.
In his remarks, Kunle Ade-Ojo highlighted Toyota Nigeria’s commitment to supporting initiatives that encourage children to nurture their creativity and talents, expressing appreciation for the support of teachers and parents.
Regarding the fact that all the winners were girls this year, Ade-Ojo clarified that the selection process was conducted by judges based on transparent criteria.
One of the parents, Opeyemi Aboderin, lauded Toyota Nigeria for providing a platform for children to express their ideas through art. She expressed gratitude for the company’s investment in the future of young talent and emphasized the importance of encouraging youth to develop their skills and talents.
The Toyota Dream Car Art Contest continues to serve as a beacon of inspiration for young artists across Nigeria, empowering them to unleash their imagination and contribute to the world of automotive design.
