The Kwara State Police Command has announced the successful rescue of PengChao Zhang, a Chinese national who was abducted in Kwara State. The abduction took place penultimate Sunday around Eyenkorin, where six armed men stormed Cherish Guest House, an isolated facility on the outskirts of Ilorin, and abducted Zhang, also known as Williams Kaka among his business associates.

According to Police spokeswoman Toun Ejire-Adeyemi (DSP), Zhang was rescued in the early hours of Tuesday following diligent and coordinated efforts by the command’s tactical teams and vigilantes. She emphasized that strategic search and investigation efforts led to the safe rescue of the victim on March 19, 2024.

Ejire-Adeyemi further stated that Zhang has been reunited with his family unharmed, underscoring the unwavering commitment of the Kwara State Police Command to ensure the safety and security of all residents and visitors within the state.

However, additional details gathered from reliable sources suggest that Zhang’s release may have involved the payment of an undisclosed amount of ransom. It is reported that he was released in a forest close to Shagamu, with the assistance of operatives guiding a company close to the area.

The successful rescue of PengChao Zhang highlights the collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and the vigilance of security operatives in combating crime and ensuring the safety of individuals in Kwara State.
