Tinubu Foresees Nigeria’s Tech Leadership in Africa, Emphasizes Youth Empowerment

President Bola Tinubu expressed his administration’s commitment to positioning Nigeria as Africa’s leader in information and communications technology (ICT) during a meeting with a delegation from Meta Platforms Incorporated, led by Sir Nick Clegg, Meta’s President of Global Affairs.

Tinubu highlighted the importance of sustaining investments in digital technology to drive Nigeria’s emergence as an ICT leader and enhance the sustainability of small businesses while expanding opportunities across various sectors. He emphasized Nigeria’s readiness to embrace technological advancements and ensure that the country does not lag behind in the digital age.

Central to this vision is Tinubu’s administration’s 3MTT program, which aims to train three million Nigerian youths in digital technology and essential skills. Tinubu underscored the critical role of Nigerian youth as the country’s most valuable asset in achieving digital economic expansion.

Recognizing the significance of AI-enabled future economies, Tinubu emphasized the need to prepare Nigerian youths to compete globally and participate in the digital economy effectively. He assured the delegation of Nigeria’s readiness to collaborate on technological advancements, emphasizing the importance of cooperation for mutual benefit.

Tinubu reiterated Nigeria’s openness to business and expressed the country’s aspiration to lead the African continent in digital technology. He emphasized the value of data for Nigeria’s development and stressed the necessity of collaborative efforts to achieve technological progress and economic growth.
