Former military administrator of Delta State, Air Commodore Luke Oculor (rtd), has voiced a pressing call for the federal government to establish an investigative panel aimed at addressing the crisis engulfing the Okuama community.

The recent spotlight on Okuama community stems from the reported killing of 16 military personnel, sparking outrage and concern nationwide.

Expressing profound shock and disbelief at the tragic events, Oculor emphasized the urgent need for investigative measures, advocating for the formation of similar panels to address communal conflicts in other affected areas.

Oculor stated, “As individuals who have served in the military, we often carry the weight of such incidents silently. However, the magnitude of these killings is beyond comprehension. In many other nations, such occurrences would prompt a declaration of a state of emergency due to their incomprehensible nature.”

Addressing the broader security landscape of the nation, Oculor conveyed deep-seated concerns regarding the alarming rate of abductions and security breaches. He stressed that the prevailing situation cannot be considered normal by any measure and called for decisive action from the government.

“The frequency of abductions and security breaches is deeply troubling. No nation can afford to regard such occurrences as normal. It is imperative that the government adopts a more proactive approach. The current modus operandi must undergo a significant overhaul to effectively address these challenges,” Oculor emphasized.
