Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has expressed interest in establishing a collaborative partnership between the state government and Mastercard, focusing on technology, digitalization, and innovation initiatives.
During a courtesy visit by the management team of Mastercard, led by Dimitrios Dosis, President for Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of developing backup infrastructure to support Mastercard’s investment endeavors in the state.
Governor Sanwo-Olu reiterated his administration’s commitment to integrating technology into everyday life in Lagos, emphasizing the potential for joint development and advancement in the technology sector between the Lagos State government and Mastercard.
Highlighting Lagos’s aspiration to become a knowledge hub, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the city’s potential to attract global talent and expertise in innovation, knowledge, and skills across various fields, including entertainment, arts, culture, and technology.
He stressed the need to harness the energy and creativity of the youth population positively to address global challenges, emphasizing the importance of providing platforms and opportunities for young people to showcase their skills and contribute to solving real-world problems.
In response, Dimitrios Dosis affirmed Mastercard’s commitment to partnering with the Lagos State government, citing the organization’s recognition of Lagos’s vibrant fintech community and innovative initiatives in the payment and transportation sectors.
He praised the passion and innovation demonstrated by Lagos’s fintech community and expressed optimism about the potential for collaboration to drive technological innovation and economic development in the state.
