The All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum convened a closed-door meeting in Abuja with leaders and chieftains of the party in Plateau State, intensifying efforts to persuade Governor Caleb Mutfwang of the state to defect from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and join the APC.

This move comes following a recent call by the Forum for Governor Mutfwang to abandon the PDP and align with the APC, emphasizing the potential synergy between him and President Bola Tinubu, as well as other North Central governors and federal legislators from the state.

Saleh Mandung Zazzaga, Chairman of the Forum, reiterated the importance of Governor Mutfwang’s defection to the APC, citing the need for collective action in addressing the state’s developmental challenges and security issues.

Following the closed-door deliberations, Zazzaga expressed satisfaction with Governor Mutfwang’s commitment to development, inclusiveness, and peaceful governance. He emphasized the desire to harness Mutfwang’s leadership qualities within the APC to accelerate progress and address the state’s pressing needs.

Among the APC chieftains present at the meeting were Chief Amos Gizo, a gubernatorial aspirant in the last election, and Dashe Arlat, former Chairman of Plateau State Internal Revenue Service (PSIRS), alongside other prominent figures.

Zazzaga revealed that the Forum is engaging with party elders and stakeholders to formulate a cohesive action plan. Subsequently, they plan to extend a formal invitation to Governor Mutfwang to join the APC, followed by notifications to relevant APC branches and authorities at the state and national levels.
