Ebonyi Government Steps in to Resolve 111-Year Land Dispute Between Abaomege and Ishinkwo Communities

The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Dr. Ben Odoh, has affirmed the state government’s commitment to restoring peace in conflict-ridden communities.

 

Speaking during a sensitization meeting with Ishinkwo Community stakeholders in Onicha Local Government Area, Odoh emphasized the government’s readiness to end the century-long land dispute between Abaomege and Ishinkwo.

 

As the Chairman of the Government White Paper Implementation Committee on the conflict, Odoh assured that all recommendations outlined in the gazetted White Paper would be meticulously implemented. He urged traditional rulers and community leaders to collaborate with the government to achieve lasting peace.

 

The meeting aimed to prepare the community for the upcoming signing of a peace pact, scheduled for Friday. HRH Jehoshaphat Nnanna, the traditional ruler of Ishinkwo, commended the government’s intervention and pledged full support to finding a permanent solution to the protracted crisis. The dispute, spanning 111 years, has resulted in casualties and extensive property damage, highlighting the urgency for resolution.
