In recent military operations, the Nigerian Army has successfully thwarted several kidnapping attempts in Plateau and Zamfara states, while also dismantling a camp affiliated with IPOB/ESN militants in Imo state. Maj.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, disclosed these developments in a statement released on Tuesday from Abuja.
The army’s proactive measures led to the rescue of Mrs. Rosemary Jekpe, who had been kidnapped from her residence in Abuja Layout, Bukuru Low Cost Housing Estate, situated in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State. The rescue operation took place in Rafinbuna village, located in Bassa Local Government Area, following an intense firefight with the kidnappers. Notably, the troops successfully recovered an AK-47 Rifle and two motorcycles from the apprehended criminals during the operation.
Additionally, the military conducted a targeted raid on a suspected criminal enclave in Zamfara village, situated in Wase Local Government Area of Zamfara State. This operation was executed based on actionable intelligence gathered by the army.
