House of Reps Adjourns Plenary for Easter, Eid Holidays

The House of Representatives has adjourned plenary until the 16th of April in observance of the Easter and Eid Fitri holidays. Speaker Tajudeen Abbas announced the adjournment on Wednesday at the conclusion of plenary.

Prior to adjourning, the lawmakers approved two requests from President Bola Tinubu to extend the implementation period of the capital component of the 2023 budget and the 2023 supplementary budget. Tinubu had submitted a letter to the House requesting the extension, which was granted with expedited passage.

In addition, the House passed a bill submitted by the President seeking an increase in the wages and allowances of judicial officers. The bill aims to address the prolonged stagnation in the remuneration of Judicial Officers and to align their compensation with contemporary socio-economic realities.
