The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, inaugurated the Sunrise Waterpark, a sprawling recreational haven acclaimed as the largest in West Africa. Situated atop Asokoro Hill, with breathtaking vistas overlooking Mogadishu Barracks and the Abuja city center, the Waterpark promises to redefine leisure and tourism in the region.
Mr. Wike hailed the establishment of the Waterpark as a significant milestone, underscoring its pivotal role in showcasing the vibrant tourism sector of the FCT. He commended the Sunrise and Nadeem Group of companies for their visionary initiative and dedication in bringing the project to fruition, affirming its potential to invigorate the local economy and enhance the city’s appeal.
With the unveiling of the Waterpark, FCT residents are poised to enjoy world-class recreational experiences without venturing beyond city limits, thereby conserving foreign exchange and bolstering the territory’s economy. Mr. Wike encouraged residents to patronize the facility and urged its management to maintain exemplary standards to ensure sustained patronage and enjoyment for all.
Highlighting the tourism potential of the FCT, Mr. Wike underscored the significance of transforming sites like the Yaba fishing site and the Ushafa Pottery center into thriving tourism destinations. He welcomed private sector investors to explore opportunities in these areas, emphasizing the government’s commitment to facilitating investment through incentives and partnerships.
In her remarks, the Chairperson of Nadeem Group of Companies, Tania Khalaf, celebrated the Waterpark as a testament to the company’s dedication to excellence and innovative construction. She emphasized the thoughtful landscaping designed to showcase Abuja’s unique beauty, making it a rare gem among global Waterparks.
Khalaf expressed optimism that the Waterpark would foster community bonds, create employment opportunities, and attract foreign investments, positioning the FCT as a premier destination for leisure and recreation.
