Senator Lawal Usman, representing the Kaduna Central Senatorial District, expressed heartfelt sympathy to the families of over 200 abducted students from two schools in Kuriga 1, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State. Assuring the families, Usman stated that security agencies were actively engaged in efforts to rescue the abducted students. He disclosed that President Bola Tinubu had directed him to convene an emergency stakeholders’ meeting to address the prevailing insecurity in the state, following his recent visit to the Presidential Villa.
The planned stakeholders’ meeting, according to Senator Usman, aims to tackle critical aspects of insecurity, particularly the recurring bandit operations in Kaduna State. He emphasized the need to employ modern crime-fighting techniques, enhance intelligence gathering, and promote community policing. Usman highlighted that the stakeholders would comprise security agencies, community leaders, traditional institutions, government representatives, and civil society organizations, reflecting a comprehensive approach to addressing the security challenges.
Additionally, Senator Usman reiterated the government’s stance against paying ransom to kidnappers and emphasized the need for collaboration in restoring security and fostering harmonious coexistence among citizens. He urged communities to actively engage in intelligence gathering and provide timely information to security agencies to thwart potential attacks by bandits. Furthermore, Usman called for patience from Nigerians amidst economic reforms, underscoring the importance of prayer during Ramadan to navigate through these challenging times.
