The Committee of Diaspora Chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (CDC-APC) has issued a fervent appeal to President Bola Tinubu to intervene and address the escalating crisis surrounding the election process within the United Kingdom (UK) chapter of the group.
In a statement released on Monday by Prof Adesegun Labinjo and Mr Bola Babarinde, the Chairman and General Secretary respectively, the committee emphasized the pressing need for the President’s intervention in light of allegations of compromise during the UK Diaspora Chapter elections.
Expressing deep concerns over the potential ramifications if the situation remains unchecked, the committee warned of adverse outcomes for both the Diaspora chapter and the party as a whole. It stressed the urgency of resolving the crisis to prevent further deterioration of the relationship between CDC-APC and the APC headquarters.
Highlighting the significance of unity and collaboration between Diaspora chapters and the party leadership, the statement underscored that these chapters are not in competition with the party hierarchy but rather aim to complement and support the party’s efforts.
Moreover, the committee called for an end to divisive tactics employed by certain elements within the party secretariat, urging President Tinubu to rein in individuals prioritizing personal interests over the welfare of the party.
