President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria has urged state chairmen of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to mobilize citizens at the grassroots level to obtain their National Identification Numbers (NIN). This call to action aims to assist the government in planning and implementing structural interventions necessary for the full integration of citizens into various intervention programs. Speaking during a meeting with the Forum of State Chairmen of the APC at the State House, President Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to deploying resources to critical sectors for the welfare of Nigerians. He emphasized the sanctity of the nation’s treasury, stressing the imperative to prevent its abuse.

According to a statement by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu outlined the government’s progressive agenda, which includes initiatives such as student loans, a national consumer credit system, and social welfare programs for the unemployed and graduates. He assured Nigerians that every citizen would have a place of belonging in the country, emphasizing unity and prosperity for all.

Highlighting the pivotal role of agriculture in driving economic growth, Tinubu disclosed plans for large-scale livestock farming, emphasizing the transition to mechanized farming and the provision of fertilizers to farmers. He expressed confidence in Nigeria’s ability to achieve self-sufficiency in food production, signaling a shift away from food imports.

Addressing challenges such as corruption and resistance to policy reforms, President Tinubu urged party members to champion good governance and civic engagement at the grassroots level. He emphasized the need to defend the interests of the people against vested interests, asserting the people’s ownership of the national treasury.

In his call for grassroots mobilization for NIN registration, Tinubu urged party members to educate and assist citizens, particularly those with limited formal education and understanding of the NIN registration process. He emphasized the importance of inclusive governance and caring for the welfare of all Nigerians, regardless of party affiliation.
