The Kwara State government initiated the distribution of 50,000 cartons of noodles to ease the financial burden on tertiary institution students in response to the escalating cost of living. Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq inaugurated the distribution in Ilorin, represented by the Commissioner for Youth Development, Hajia Nafisat Buge.

Expressing commitment to citizens’ welfare, the governor handed over the noodles to the Students Union Governments (SUGs), highlighting that 38,000 cartons were immediately available, with the remaining 12,000 to be delivered soon. This intervention supplements ongoing measures addressing various societal challenges, reflecting the government’s dedication to supporting students during these difficult times. Notably, similar assistance has been extended to different segments of society, showcasing the administration’s unwavering commitment.

Governor AbdulRazaq emphasized previous palliatives and relief efforts, particularly in light of the fuel subsidy removal, demonstrating a comprehensive approach to alleviating student hardships. Special Assistant on Students Affairs, Salami Onidugbe, affirmed that the intervention catered to both indigene and non-indigene students. He announced government monitoring teams would oversee the distribution process in each institution, urging SUG leaders to ensure equitable access for all students.
