Herconomy, a financial technology company, has introduced a savings challenge aimed at promoting a savings culture among women. The initiative was inaugurated during an advocacy walk called ‘March to a Billion’ held in Lagos.
Founder Ife Durosinmi-Etti emphasized the importance of addressing the growing financial disparity in the economy. She highlighted the disproportionate impact of poverty on women and girls, underlining the significance of savings as a strategic measure to combat poverty.
The ‘March to a Billion’ challenge encourages participants to save one billion naira within three months, starting from March. At the conclusion of the challenge, a draw will be conducted to match someone’s savings, with a maximum reward of one million naira.
This savings challenge is hosted on the Herconomy app and has received support from celebrity advocate Toke Makinwa.
