Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, announced the apprehension of four suspected cultists and armed robbers in Asaba by operatives of the CP – Decoy Squad. The suspects, identified as Chigozie Edwin (28), James Prince Chukwuebuka (20), Harmony Nkemjika Ohanebum (30), and Garba Jubril (27), were arrested during a raid on a hotel in Asaba.
CP Olufemi revealed the details of the operation during a press briefing held in Asaba, highlighting the recovery of weapons from the suspects. Among the confiscated items were two Beretta Pistols with two rounds of Live Ammunition, as well as a locally made cut-to-size gun with one live cartridge found concealed in the ceiling.
The operation, carried out on March 6, 2024, at around 11:30 PM, was prompted by credible intelligence indicating cultist activities within the vicinity of a hotel near Federal College Junction in Asaba. Upon the arrival of the CP – Decoy Squad, the suspects attempted to flee but were pursued and apprehended by the relentless operatives.
