A socio-political group known as the Zone A Voters League (ZAVL), comprised of young professionals and elite from the Zone A Senatorial District of Benue State, has taken a decisive step towards initiating the recall of Senator Emmanuel Udende from the 10th Senate.
In a significant move, ZAVL has formed a consultative committee representing the seven local government areas within Zone A Senatorial District. This committee has been tasked with kickstarting consultations on the recall process of Senator Udende, citing his alleged complicity in the security situation in the Sankera area of Benue State.
The decision was formalized through a communique signed by Pastor Saater Akaa and six others. ZAVL has resolved to petition the National Security Adviser (NSA) to conduct a thorough investigation into Senator Udende’s alleged involvement, including possible financial sponsorship and acquisition of illegal arms.
The group has underscored the importance of integrity and pedigree in representation, stating that having Senator Udende in office may be counterproductive when there are other highly qualified individuals capable of effectively representing the people of Zone A.
Furthermore, ZAVL has raised concerns regarding Senator Udende’s alleged inability to account for the ₦200,000,000 palliative funds allocated for distribution to constituents. This lack of transparency has further fueled the group’s determination to pursue the recall process.
Senator Udende has been put on notice by ZAVL, with the inauguration of the recall committee scheduled to take place on March 15, 2024, in Katsina Ala, Benue State.
