Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini commended Ademola Lookman for his stellar performance in their UEFA Europa League Round of 16 second leg encounter against Sporting Lisbon, which ended in a 1-1 draw in Lisbon.
Despite Atalanta’s unfortunate luck hitting the crossbar three times, Gasperini expressed delight with Lookman’s contributions in the fiercely contested match.
Reflecting on Lookman’s versatility and development, Gasperini noted, “He wasn’t playing centrally; he scored six or seven goals and was much more on the wing. Now he’s become someone who comes into play in the last twenty meters and is always able to create danger.”
Highlighting Lookman’s strengths, Gasperini praised his speed, shooting ability, and timing, emphasizing his potential to become an even more complete player. Gasperini acknowledged Lookman’s physical attributes and encouraged him to become a more prominent figure on the field, particularly this season.
Despite his lack of goals in European competitions this season, Lookman has made a significant impact for Atalanta, registering eight goals and three assists in 21 league appearances for the club.
