The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, in a bold move to address concerns over the movement of cattle within Abuja city, has vowed to end open grazing in the capital.
During a meeting with the Belgian Ambassador to Nigeria, Daniel Bertrand, Minister Wike assured residents of Abuja that plans are underway to stop the roaming of cattle within the city center. He emphasized the need for multifaceted discussions with relevant stakeholders to achieve this goal.
Minister Wike highlighted that fighting insecurity in the FCT requires adopting various approaches, and his administration is actively pursuing partnerships with the private sector transportation players to enhance security in the city.
Ambassador Daniel Bertrand, who expressed concerns over the roaming of cattle on Abuja streets, commended Minister Wike’s efforts to tackle the issue. He also expressed interest in facilitating partnerships between investors from Belgium and the FCTA for the development of the nation’s capital.
