The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has officially stated that the warehouse looted in Abuja on Sunday was not its property. Hoodlums unlawfully entered a storage facility in the Gwagwa area of Abuja, pilfering stored food items, including bags of maize and other grains, in the early hours of Sunday.

Residents of the area reported that youths from neighbouring Jiwa and Karmo communities also converged on the site, aiming to join in the looting. In response to these events, NEMA’s spokesman, Mr Manzo Ezekiel, clarified on Sunday in Abuja that the looted warehouse did not belong to NEMA. He expressed sympathy for the owners of the looted facility.

Additionally, Mr Mustapha Ahmed, the Director-General of NEMA, has directed Zonal Directors and Heads of Operations to reinforce security in and around NEMA offices and warehouses nationwide. This directive aims to prevent any potential security breaches at NEMA facilities across the country.
