Brigadier-General Yusha’u Ahmed, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has emphasized the importance of corps members being prepared to serve in any part of the country they are deployed to for their one-year mandatory service. He discouraged them from seeking redeployment and instead encouraged them to settle down and contribute to the growth and development of their deployment states.

Addressing Batch A Stream 1 corps members during a cultural carnival at the Anambra State orientation camp, the DG stressed the need for corps members to respect the culture, traditions, and security of their host communities. He highlighted the importance of taking security seriously and urged them to abide by the instructions provided in their manuals.

Ahmed underscored the significance of skill acquisition and entrepreneurial development during the service year, urging corps members to utilize the program to become self-reliant and creators of job opportunities and wealth post-service.

The NYSC boss, who was honored with a chieftaincy title of Dike Ora I of Umuawulu by Igwe Joel Egwuonwu, the traditional ruler of the camp’s host community, reiterated the importance of respecting the culture and traditions of host communities. He also pledged continued partnership with states to improve camp facilities to accommodate the increasing number of corps members graduating annually.
