Sheikh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, the Commander General of the Kano Hisbah Board, has officially tendered his resignation from his position following recent criticism from Governor Abba Yusuf regarding the operations of the outfit.

In a concise video posted on his official Facebook page, Daurawa announced his decision to step down, marking the end of his tenure.

The resignation comes in the wake of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s expressed dissatisfaction with the approach taken by Hisbah, the state sharia police, in their efforts to combat acts of immorality across Kano state. During a gathering with Imams at the Government House, Governor Yusuf called for a reassessment of Hisbah’s methods of conducting arrests.

Responding to the governor’s critique, Daurawa stood firm in defense of the actions undertaken by Hisbah under his leadership. He emphasized that the organization had diligently adhered to Islamic principles in its mission to address immorality within the state.
