Yesterday, tragedy unfolded at Alatise beach in the Ajah area of Lagos State when 13-year-old Kelvin Onyengba drowned during a hangout.
Kelvin, accompanied by five friends, went swimming at the beach. Unfortunately, the boy lost his life due to the force of the sea’s waves.
A source familiar with the incident shared details, stating that the boy’s mother recounted how the water’s wave swept her son away. Kelvin had ventured into the water with his friends for a swim and hangout, but he tragically did not return to his parents.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident. Detectives from the area visited the scene, and the family anxiously awaited the emergence of the boy’s body from the sea.
Hundeyin stated, “The scene of the incident was visited by detectives from the division while the family was waiting for the body to emerge from the sea.”
