Nnamdi Kanu, the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has filed a fresh application for bail in the treasonable felony charges against him by the Nigerian Government.

The Federal High Court in Abuja has set March 19, 2024, as the date to rule on this bail application.

Kanu’s counsel, Aloy Ejimakor, argued for his client’s bail on the grounds of his ill health.

However, the prosecuting team led by Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN) urged the court to dismiss the bail application, asserting that the Department of State Services (DSS) has the necessary medical facilities to care for Kanu.

The judge opted to defer ruling on the bail application until March 19, 2024.

One of Kanu’s lawyers informed journalists outside the courtroom that the judge would decide whether to grant bail or not by that time.
