The Minister of Youth Development, Dr. Jamila Bio-Ibrahim, has announced a collaboration between the ministry and the American Tower Corporation (ATC) Nigeria to offer free training on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for Nigerian youths. This partnership aims to empower youth and equip them with relevant skills for the 21st-century economy.

Dr. Bio-Ibrahim emphasized the ministry’s dedication to creating an enabling environment for youth development, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s vision. The collaboration with ATC will focus on ICT training, recognizing its critical role in the digital age.

Representatives from ATC, led by Mr. Ehize Ilozavbie, the African Public Affairs Manager, met with the minister to discuss the potential partnership. Mr. Ilozavbie highlighted ATC’s commitment to bolstering Nigeria’s telecommunications industry.

ATC, operating in 33 states, has skill acquisition centers offering free training to community members. With over 8,000 telecom towers across the country, 98% of which use renewable energy, ATC has already trained more than 50,000 Nigerians at no cost, contributing significantly to skill development and employability.

Among ATC’s programs is “Girls in ICT,” focusing on training female students from secondary schools to bridge the gender gap in technology-related fields. These initiatives have not only empowered local communities but also created employment opportunities for graduates within and outside Nigeria.
