Police Arrest 10 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Nasarawa

The Nasarawa State Police Command has apprehended 10 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud, commonly referred to as “Yahoo boys,” within the Keffi Local Government Area of the state. The arrests were made following credible information about the presence of these suspects in the area.

Ramhan Nansel, the spokesperson of the command, confirmed in a statement that the suspects were taken into custody on Wednesday. The operation resulted in the seizure of several incriminating items from the suspects, including two laptops, 10 sophisticated mobile phones of various brands, three WIFI routers, criminal charms, black soap, and illegal substances such as Loud weed and dried leaves suspected to be marijuana.

According to the Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the suspects have confessed to engaging in internet fraud schemes, commonly known as Yahoo Plus. Once the investigation is concluded, the suspects will be charged to court for prosecution.

In response to the successful operation, the Commissioner of Police, CP Umar Shehu Nadada psc, mni, commended the officers involved for their diligence and urged them to continue conducting raids on all criminal hideouts. The commitment to sustaining such proactive measures is essential in curbing the activities of cybercriminals and ensuring the safety and security of residents in Nasarawa State.

The swift action taken by the Nasarawa State Police Command underscores their dedication to combating cybercrime and upholding the rule of law. By apprehending these suspected fraudsters and recovering incriminating evidence, law enforcement authorities are sending a clear message that criminal activities, including internet fraud, will not be tolerated in the state.
