In anticipation of planned protests in parts of Ibadan on Monday, the Oyo State Police Command has issued a stern warning against any disruption of peace. The protests, slated to convene at Mokola and extend to other areas of the city, are driven by growing concerns over Nigeria’s current economic challenges.

Similar demonstrations have already occurred in Kano, Minna, and other regions, addressing critical issues including the removal of petrol subsidies, food inflation, and the soaring cost of living.

While acknowledging the fundamental right to peaceful assembly, law enforcement authorities stress the importance of maintaining public order throughout the protests. The police have assured the public that they have implemented necessary measures to forestall any potential chaos. Organizers have been urged to collaborate with law enforcement agencies to ensure a smooth and nonviolent demonstration.

Additionally, the police have appealed to parents, guardians, and community leaders to dissuade their children and wards from being influenced by individuals seeking to incite disorder and chaos within the protests.
